Capilano Choc Honey Spread
Capilano has launched a new chocolate spread, made from just two ingredients – pure Australian honey and sustainably-sourced cocoa. Unlike other choc spreads, Choc Honey is nut-free and contains no preservatives, no added sugar and no baddies like palm oil.
The new product may come as sweet relief to many families, with research commissioned by Capilano revealing that more than a third of parents “dread” making school lunches.
“The research shows that many parents struggle to find lunchbox items that are tasty, natural, nut-free and travel well,” says Ryan d’Almeida, CEO of Hive + Wellness, the company behind the Capilano brand. “Close to one-third of parents say their kids’ packed sandwiches often return uneaten. That’s a lot of wasted time and energy, while the kids themselves may then be learning on an empty stomach.”
Because the product contains no nuts, it also meets school nut-free policies. As well as going great on a sandwich, Choc Honey can be used in milkshakes and smoothies, or as icing on baked goods. Or hey, just eat it straight out of the jar with a spoon.
Capilano Choc Honey will be rolling out in Woolworths supermarkets in the coming weeks.
YoPRO Dessert Sticks
Danone’s YoPRO has released an ice cream-style dessert option into its high-protein range.
The introduction of ice cream-style Dessert Sticks follows YoPRO’s recent release of its Nut Protein Bar range, as the brand continues to expand into growing product formats outside of its traditional yoghurt range. Available in Mint Chocolate and Salted Caramel, YoPRO Dessert Sticks contain 10g protein. There’s also no added sugar or artificial sweeteners. They also come in under 110 calories per serving.
YoPRO Dessert Sticks will be available in 4 x 135mL packs at Coles supermarkets.
Research from McCrindle reports that 75 percent of Australians have at least one cup of coffee per day, with 27 percent indicating that they cannot survive the day without it.
Further health trends suggest that 47 percent of Australians aim to eat more natural ingredients, 36 percent avoid artificial colours and the same amount avoid sugar. Superfoods have also been an increasing topic of interest for the past few years.
Beforeyouspeak Coffee was on the money with these trends. Queenslanders Jaryd Terkelsen and Ash Bisset launched their high performance and premium instant coffee brand in 2017. Today, the products have close to 1000 stockists Australia-wide and are available across the US, NZ, Singapore and soon in Canada.
The company has now launched the first product in their Ready-to-Drink range. It’s a cold-press high-performance coffee, with a sugar-free caramel flavour to follow.
In addition to cold press single-origin Columbian arabica coffee, the product is infused with MCT oil, Siberian ginseng, green coffee bean extract, turmeric and black pepper.
Beforeyouspeak RTDs are available in health food stores and independent supermarkets.
Uncle Tobys Super Blends Prebiotic Fibre
Uncle Tobys Oats has introduced a new gut-healthy product to its Super Blends range.
The company launched the Super Blends range in early 2019. It’s made to meet the needs of Aussies looking for a breakfast option with benefits beyond a bowl of oats. Along with whole grains and fibre, each blend in the range is formulated to provide added benefits.
The newest addition, Super Blends Prebiotic Fibre Turmeric & Coconut, contains a serving of oats infused with a hint of turmeric and coconut milk. It also includes an added prebiotic to nourish good bacteria in your gut. Fibre also supports a healthy digestive system.
In addition to the new Prebiotic Fibre blend, the Super Blends range includes two protein variants. Each contains 10g protein per serve. There’s also an energy blend of oats and rye with pepitas and raspberries, which contains iron and magnesium.
Super Blends are available from Coles, Woolworths and independent supermarkets.
