Grill’d and Heston Blumenthal team up

Grill’d and Heston Blumenthal have collaborated to showcase Blumenthal’s favourite mushroom-based meat, Fable. The legendary Michelin star chef himself has created a limited edition “Heston Fable Burger” exclusively for Grill’d. But you’d better get in quick.

“I never thought I would allow another restaurant to serve one of my very special burgers until I met the amazing team at Grill’d,” Blumenthal says. “All four Fable burgers are fantastic, but the Heston Fable Burger is the star of the show.

“The Fable patty has a rich, satisfying mushroom flavour that tastes like slow-cooked meat. It’s complemented by the pluminess and spiciness of hoisin sauce, the fresh texture of Japanese ’slaw and lightly grilled tofu. It has all the umami that you’d expect from a burger, but there’s no meat in it. Mouth-watering, 100 percent natural, satisfying and delicious.”

A first for a burger

For the new Fable range, the “king of gastronomy” has created a flavourful Fable Spicy Cheeseburger. It’s soon to be available on the menu nationally. There’s also a limited-edition off-menu Heston Fable Burger available at select restaurants. Inspired by Peking duck pancakes, this limited-edition burger is an evolution of what’s on the menu at the celebrity chef’s own restaurant, The Perfectionists’ Café in London. In fact, this is the first time a Heston Blumenthal burger will be served outside his restaurants.

But there’s a downside. The Heston Fable Burger is limited to just 4000 across all of Australia. As a result, bookings to experience it at select Grill’d restaurants are essential. Sittings will commence from August 8 to August 22. However, NSW residents in lockdown needn’t fret. You can still register your interest online. When restrictions ease, you too can book to enjoy the Grill’d and Heston Blumenthal burger experience.

The Heston touch

Because we’re talking Heston Blumenthal here, the Heston Fable Burger will be served with his signature flair. It’s delivered to the table under a smoke-filled cloche, with silver service touches. The limited-edition burger also comes with Grill’d chips and white miso mayo. There’s also your choice of premium wine, local beer or non-alcoholic drink.

And the four new Fable meaty mushroom burgers taste just as good as the real thing.”

A taste of Fable

All of us, including those in lockdown, can enjoy a taste of Fable and Heston Blumenthal. The Fable Spicy Cheeseburger by Heston plus two other Fable burgers are available via dine-in, takeaway and delivery across Australia. All four Fable burgers contain 100 percent natural shiitake mushrooms. They contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
