Helping Foodbank feed the hungry

Five of Melbourne’s largest tech and innovation-focused companies have joined forces to fundraise for Foodbank Victoria, an independent not-for-profit organisation that provides food relief to individuals and families facing hardship.

Foodbank Victoria is the state’s oldest and largest food relief organisation and feeds more than 140,000 Victorians every month. COVID-19 has caused severe economic challenges across the state – many are out of work due to closures and an increasing number of Victorians are accessing food relief, including those who have never needed help before.

Leading visual workspace Lucidchart, collaborative work management software company Wrike, lawyers and legal tech experts Lander & Rogers, local business messaging platform Podium and tech and innovation hub YBF Ventures are leading the fundraising charge.

An initial goal of $15,000 has been set for the raise, to be reached by August 31. For every $1 donated, two meals are created for Victorians in need. Luchidchart will be matching any donations up to $1000. Lander & Rogers has pledged $2500 and Wrike, Podium and YBF Ventures have pledged $1000 towards the goal.

Food relief charities need your help now more than ever.

In the NSW and ACT, Foodbank is also seeing a huge surge in the need for food relief. But even before the pandemic, Foodbank didn’t have the resources to meet the needs of people in the NSW and ACT who were facing food insecurity. This means they urgently need your help now more than ever, to ensure struggling families can access basic food staples.

Can you help Foodbank feed the hungry? For those in NSW and the ACT, you can donate to Foodbank here. Queenslanders can donate to Foodbank Qld here. Western Australians can donate to Foodbank WA here; South Australians can donate to Foodbank SA here; Tasmanians can donate to Foodbank Tas by calling 03 6274 1052 or emailing distribution@foodbanktas.org.au; Territorians can donate to Foodbank NT here.
