WA baker Miami Bakehouse is known and loved by locals and visitors alike for its unique and enticing range of baked goods. The bakery, which is always pushing the boundaries when it comes to creating innovative recipes – including gourmet pies like garlic prawn or peri peri vegetable – has been rewarded for its efforts at the 2021 Perth Royal Food Awards, which were announced on Thursday, July 29 at Claremont Showgrounds.

Miami Bakehouse – which is based in Mandurah, with cafes in the Perth, Peel and South West regions – took out the Most Successful Pastry Exhibitor award for all its entries across the fine food competition. It was also awarded Champion Pastry Exhibit for its healthy raw slices range, including raw raspberry, choc pistachio and Snickers.

Miami’s mouth-watering pie range is made using locally-sourced ingredients.

Continuing the healthy baking focus, Miami Bakehouse (which also offers low-carb pastry at its cafes) entered the first ever plant-based gourmet pie in the Perth Royal Show’s 100+ year history. Judged against other meat-based gourmet pies, the “Not-Beef Fajita” recipe made with soy-based protein impressed the judges so much it was awarded a silver medal.

The specialist baker also set the standard for the Beef Pie category at the awards, taking out the gold medal with its classic steak pie recipe, made with tender Stirling Ranges Angus beef from the Stirling Ranges in WA’s Great Southern region and a unique gravy recipe.

The team followed this success in the Gourmet Open Pie Category with a gold medal for its caramelised ginger chilli pork pie, made with WA’s own Plantagenet Pork; and a bronze medal for its Texan chilli beef pie, also made with Stirling Ranges Angus beef.

But the accolades didn’t stop there. Miami also won a silver media in the carrot cake category and bronze medals in the seeded sourdough, cheesecake and Anzac biscuits category, bringing the total award tally to an impressive nine medals.

The expert baking effort that Miami Bakehouse puts into creating its competition entries is the same level of effort that goes into creating Miami’s unique recipes every day, across its full range of delicious baked goods including pies, speciality breads, cakes and pastries, all of which are available at all five Miami Bakehouse cafes every day.
