Miami Bakehouse‘s unique range of baked goods is loved by locals and tourists alike. The Western Australian bakery is always pushing the boundaries when it comes to creating innovative recipes, including gourmet pies such as garlic prawn and peri peri vegetable. Now the 2021 Perth Royal Food Awards has rewarded the bakery for its efforts.

Miami Bakehouse – with locations in the Mandurah, Perth, Peel and South-West regions – won Most Successful Pastry Exhibitor for all entries across the competition. It also won Champion Pastry Exhibit for its healthy raw slices range.

Beef and not-beef

Continuing the healthy baking focus, Miami Bakehouse (which also offers low-carb pastry goodies) entered the first plant-based gourmet pie in the Perth Royal Show’s 100+ year history. The “Not-Beef Fajita” pie was judged against other meat-based gourmet pies. It impressed judges so much, it won a silver medal.

The specialist baker also set the standard for the Beef Pie category. It took out the gold medal with its classic steak pie. This features Stirling Ranges Angus beef and a unique gravy.

Medals aplenty

The team followed this success in the Gourmet Open Pie Category with a gold medal for its caramelised ginger chilli pork pie, made with WA’s own Plantagenet Pork; and a bronze medal for its Texan chilli beef pie, also made with Stirling Ranges Angus beef.

But the accolades didn’t stop there. Miami also won a silver media in the carrot cake category. Then it took bronze medals in the seeded sourdough, cheesecake and Anzac biscuits category. This brings the total award tally to an impressive nine medals.

The effort that Miami Bakehouse puts into its competition entries is the same level of effort that goes into its unique recipes every day. The full range of baked goods includes pies, speciality breads, cakes and pastries. They’re available at all five Miami Bakehouse cafes.
